What is Perl?

Perl is a versatile programming language suitable for simple scripting and also complex object oriented (OO) development.  With a large number of publicly available libraries and resources and cross platform support it is an extremely useful tool for any IT professional.


 

Available Courses

We offer a courses to suit everybody, from beginners to experts. 

Learning Perl (2 Days)

  • Assumes no previous knowledge of Perl.
  • Teaches all basic elements of the language and gives students enough of a grounding to allow them to write useful Perl programs.

Intermediate Perl (2 Days)

  • Assumes attendance of "Learning Perl" course or a basic understanding of Perl.
  • Teaches programming techniques and exploits Perl modules available for use.

Advanced Perl Techniques (1 Day)

  • Assumes attendance of "Intermediate Perl" course (or good understanding of Perl).
  • Requires an understanding of OO concepts.
  • Teaches advanced testing techniques and build on OO with Moose. 

Web Programming Programming with Perl (1 Day)

  • Assumes a good understanding Perl.
  • Teaches how to create complex web applications.

COURSE INSTRUCTOR

Dave Cross is a well known and much respected Perl author, instructor and consultant. 

In 1998 Dave started london.pm which has grown to be one of the largest Perl Mongers groups in the world.

He nominally led the group until September 2001. Between August 2002 and June 2006 he was the Perl Mongers User Groups Co-ordinator for the Perl Foundation.

Dave is a regular speaker at Perl and Open Source conferences and is often invited to present tutorials alongside the main conference.

He is the author of "Data Munging with Perl" (Manning, 2001) and a co-author of "Perl Template Toolkit" (O'Reilly, 2003).

He lives in South West London. The rumours about gold-plated
cats were never true.
